The cannabis industry has its own language. It can be intimidating for some, especially those who are only starting to deep dive into cannabis vaping!
If you don’t speak the language, you’re likely to end up buying the wrong product or stocking the wrong inventory.
This guide will break down 100+ essential cannabis terminologies, organized per category and alphabetized for easy reference!
Essential Cannabis Terminology (Core Concepts)
Bud
Bud refers to the flower of the female cannabis plant that contains the highest concentration of phytocannabinoids (THC and CBD) and terpenes.
Cannabinoids
A chemical substance that interacts with the cannabinoid receptors in the body (C1 and C2).
It can be classified into three types:
- Endocannabinoid - produced by the human body
- Phytocannabinoid - produced by plants
- Synthetic Cannabinoids - made in laboratories

Cannabis
Cannabis is the plant genus specifically bred to produce THC and CBD.
The terminology could also refer to the products made from the Cannabis sativa plant’s flowers, leaves, buds, stems, and seeds, e.g., Cannabis gummies, Cannabis oil, Cannabis vape, etc.
Cannabis indica
It is the relaxing strain type of a cannabis plant that gives the relaxing, sedative “body high” or “couch-lock” effect.
While Cannabis sativa is traditionally known to give an energizing, stimulating effect, Cannabis indica offers the opposite, making it the conventional choice for stress relief and sleep.
In modern times, however, cannabis experts clarified that the psychoactive and therapeutic benefits we get from cannabis are mainly caused by the cannabinoids and not the plant species.
Cannabis sativa
The primary species of the plant cultivated for its cannabinoid content, known for giving the psychoactive and intoxicating effect. Its flower, called marijuana, is where the cannabinoid THC is extracted from, while a variant called hemp is where CBD is extracted from.
Cannabis sativa is characterized by its tall stature and long, narrow leaves, and by its dioecious features, which means it can be distinctly male or female plants, or sometimes hermaphrodite (bearing the features of both male and female plants).
CBD (Cannabidiol)
The non-intoxicating cannabinoid extracted from the hemp plant.
CBD is used in different applications (edibles, topical solutions, vape products) and is widely recognized for managing anxiety, pain, and epilepsy. It also offers potential therapeutic benefits for insomnia, stress, and some neurological conditions.
A CBD-based medication called Epidiolex is an FDA-approved brand for the treatment of specific seizure disorders.
Endocannabinoid System
This is the system in the human body that phytocannabinoids interact with to produce the desired result when ingesting or inhaling cannabis products (THC for the psychoactive high, CBD for the therapeutic effects).
Our ECS is a complex network that regulates mood, memory, sleep, pain, and appetite.
Female Cannabis Plant
This is the gender of the Cannabis sativa plant responsible for producing the cannabinoid-rich flowers or buds used for medicinal and recreational consumption.
Farmers cultivate female plants separately from male plants to avoid pollination, in which the female plant will focus on producing seeds instead of the cannabinoid-rich resinous flowers

Flower
Refers to the smokable, trichome-covered buds harvested from the female cannabis plants that contain high concentrations of THC, CBD, and terpenes.
Cannabis flower is also commonly called “buds.”
Hybrid
A hybrid cannabis strain is a combination of two Cannabis plant species, the Cannabis sativa and the Cannabis indica.
The purpose is to combine the relaxing effects of indica with the uplifting, cerebral qualities of sativa.
Hybrids can be indica-dominant or sativa-dominant, depending on the intended purpose.
Modern cannabis is heavily hybridized, with many experts saying that the chemical profile (terpene and cannabinoid content) is a better indicator of effects than just classifying the plant as indica or sativa.
Kief
Kief refers to the powdered trichomes or pollen that collect on the surface of cannabis flowers. It is the most potent part of the plant, containing about 50% to 70% of THC and higher terpene levels than in the plant or flower itself.
Some users sprinkle kief on top of ground flowers in a bowl or joint, or infuse it into edibles for higher potency.
Male Cannabis Plant
The male cannabis plant produces the pollen that pollinates the female plants and enables seed production. It is non-consumable and has lower cannabinoid and terpene contents than the female cannabis plants.
Because of this, they are usually removed in commercial cannabis cultivation to not “distract” the female plants from producing the resin-rich flowers.
However, male cannabis plants still have niche uses for their soft and flexible hemp fibers, in pest control, and even in hash or other concentrates, although they are less efficient and effective than using female plants.
Phytocannabinoid
This naturally occurring chemical compound found in plants interacts with the human endocannabinoid system, providing consumers with its psychoactive and therapeutic effects.
For the cannabis plants, there are over 100 phytocannabinoids in cannabis, but the major ones are THC and CBD.

Terpenes
Terpenes are the organic, aromatic compounds that define their unique scent, flavor, and therapeutic effects. It also contributes to the overall consumption experience through the “entourage effect.”
In vapes, Terpenes are also extracted from cannabis (cannabis-derived terpenes) or other plants (botanical terpenes) and reintroduced to cannabis distillates to make vaping them more enjoyable.

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)
THC is the primary psychoactive compound in the cannabis plant, responsible for the intoxicating “high” effects. It binds to and activates cannabinoid receptors in the brain, altering perception, mood, and appetite.
The THC in cannabis is often extracted and isolated to be incorporated in different applications, via smoking, vaping, or in edibles.
Trichomes
These are the tiny, hair-like resin glands coating the cannabis buds and leaves that produce the cannabinoids and aromatic terpenes. The strain’s potency, flavor, and harvest maturity depend on the trichome’s color (clear, milky, or amber).

Cannabis Vaping Terminology

510 Thread
This refers to the industry-standard screw-in connector used to attach the cannabis oil cartridge to a rechargeable battery. The “510 thread” specifically refers to the connector's technical specs: 10 threads, with each 5 millimeters in diameter.
It has become the “universal” standard for portable vape pens, allowing consumers to mix and match cartridges and batteries based on their preferences.
Explore our collection of 510 threaded batteries, perfect for THC vape cartridges. Each battery offers excellent battery life and variable voltage settings, so you can customize your vaping experience. Check them out here!

Airflow
This refers to the amount of air or vapor and its pathway from the coil into the mouthpiece as you puff. Some vapes allow adjustable airflow, letting users control vapor density, temperature, and flavor with a dial, slider, or ring.

Aperture
In cannabis vaping, aperture refers to the size of the oil intake holes at the base of a cart’s center post, through which the oil flows from the tank into the heating chamber, saturating the wick.
Matching the right aperture with oil viscosity is important for the best vaping experience. The largest ones, typically at 2.0mm, are designed for thick oils, while the smallest ones, typically at 1.0mm, are designed for thin oils.
Atomizer
An atomizer is the heating element in a vape hardware that converts the cannabis extract, such as oil, wax, or distillate, into inhalable vapor. Its key components are the:
- Coil - the material that heats up when electricity or power from the battery is applied
- Wick - the material that absorbs the concentrate and brings it into contact with the coil
- Atomizer head - the entire assembly of the coil and wick.
Ceramic is currently the most popular wick material, with a Kanthal, Nichrome, or stainless steel wire embedded to heat it. Other popular materials are quartz and a combination of cotton wick & mesh coil.

Battery
A battery is a rechargeable power source that powers the atomizer, heating the cannabis extract to a specific temperature to create an inhalable vapor.
This component is crucial for controlling the quality, flavor, and consistency of the vapor.
We specialize in offering premium batteries at wholesale prices. Complete this form to receive a free quote, and inquire about exclusive pricing for bulk orders of 1,000 units or more!
Button-Activated
Button-activated refers to the battery that requires users to manually press a physical button to activate the heating element and produce a vapor.
The other type of device is draw-activated (or buttonless vapes), which turn on simply by inhaling, much like an actual cigarette.
Draw-activated vapes are more common in disposable vapes, while button-activated vapes are more common in high-performance devices that allow adjustable voltage and coil temperature.

Cartridge (Cart)
Cartridges, or most commonly called “carts,” are the pre-filled portable container that holds the cannabis extract and are attachable to a 510-threaded battery-powered vape pen.
It usually comes in different sizes:
- 0.3ml (often used for disposable pens)
- 0.5ml (also called “half-gram”)
- 0.8ml
- 1ml
- 1.5ml
- 2ml
Cannabis carts are popular for being convenient, portable, discreet, and precise in dosing, offering a fast-acting way to consume THC or CBD concentrates.
Browse our top-rated empty 510 cartridges and dab carts, designed for thick oils and distillates. These 510 thread cartridges use advanced quartz cell heating for consistent performance, pure flavor, and no burnt hits. Check them out here!
Coil
The coil is the essential heating element in vape pens, operating by using the battery's electrical energy to rapidly heat the metal wire attached to a wick to a precise temperature. When the heat comes into contact with the oil, it produces the vapor that the consumer can inhale.
It is also commonly called the atomizer.

Disposable Vape
This refers to a single-use vape device pre-charged and pre-filled with cannabis oil, designed to be discarded once the concentrate is finished.
It requires no maintenance, making it a convenient and portable option for beginners, with its user-friendly, on-the-go use.
Our empty disposable vape pens are designed for thick cannabis oils, distillates, and concentrates. These all-in-one rechargeable pens offer a strong pull, leak-resistant design, and high-capacity lithium-ion batteries. Built with quartz coil atomizers, they deliver smooth vapor without burning or clogging. See our collection here!
Draw-Activated
Draw-activated vapes, also known as “buttonless vapes,” turn on automatically when the user inhales or draws from the mouthpiece. It uses an air-pressure sensor to activate the heating element, offering a simple “puff-and-go” experience that mimics smoking.
Unlike button-activated ones, draw-activated vapes require no buttons or settings to operate.
Mouthpiece
The mouthpiece, also known as the drip tip, cart tip, or simply tip, is the top part of a vape pen or cartridge that users place in their mouths to draw and inhale vapor.
It serves as the exit point for the vape’s airflow from the atomizer.
Preheat Function
This refers to the feature that gently warms the oil at low voltage to reduce its viscosity, prevent clogging, and improve flavor, especially in cold environments, before inhalation. The preheat function is primarily found on 510-thread batteries and specific vape pens designed for thick oils.
It is often activated by clicking a button twice.
Resistance (Ohms)
The resistance measures how quickly or slowly the coil heats up, depending on how it opposes the electrical current from the battery. This is important for vapor production, as it affects the amount of vapor produced and its temperature.
Low resistance means the coil allows electricity to flow, resulting in faster heating, while high resistance means the coil restricts the flow of electricity, resulting in slower heating.
Tank
A tank refers to the chamber or reservoir that holds the cannabis oil. It is similar to cartridges, but while cannabis carts are pre-filled with oil that can be disposable and made with plastic, the tank often refers to a refillable chamber made with glass, intended for long-term use with replaceable coils.
Threading
Threading refers to the spiral, screw-like mechanism used to securely attach the vape cartridge to the battery. The industry standard is called 510-threading, with 10 threads of 5 millimeters in diameter each.
Variable Voltage
Variable voltage is a vape battery feature that lets you manually adjust the power output or the heat setting applied to the atomizer/coil.
Higher voltage produces thicker vapor, with a risk of burning, while lower voltage offers better flavor and oil quality, with a risk of dry hits.

Oil & Concentrate Types
BHO (Butane Hash Oil)
This is a hydrocarbon cannabis extract that uses butane as a solvent to isolate and extract the cannabinoids and terpenes from the plant.
Commonly used in dab pens and vaporizers as wax, shatter, or oil, it offers rapid, intense effects compared to smoking marijuana flowers.
Broad-Spectrum
It refers to cannabis products that contain a wide range of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds from the plants, minus the THC. It offers the entourage effect without the psychoactive effects.
It’s in the middle between full-spectrum (THC + minor cannabinoids & terpenes) and isolate (only CBD).
CO₂ Oil
This refers to cannabis concentrates extracted using pressurized carbon dioxide instead of chemical solvents like butane and propane.
CO2 oil is popular for being cleaner, safer, and better at preserving natural terpenes and cannabinoids, making the high-quality extract taste and smell closer to the actual plant.
Decarboxylation
Often shortened to “decarb,” decarboxylation is the chemical process that uses heat to activate the psychoactive compounds of the cannabinoids, which allows consumers to feel the desired effect, especially of THC.

Diamonds
These are the crystallized THC concentrates that, when heated, produce high potency with about 90% THC levels.
In vaping, they are commonly found as “liquid diamonds,” which are melted crystals mixed with sauce. They offer a clean, flavor-packed, and intense experience for consumers.
Distillate
A highly refined, viscous cannabis oil that underwent a rigorous distillation process to remove impurities, terpenes, and flavonoids, a distillate is a nearly pure cannabinoid product, with often about 90% or more THC levels.
It is odorless and flavorless, so manufacturers may reintroduce terpenes to restore flavor and aroma, depending on consumer preference.
Distillate is a very popular option for cannabis vape enthusiasts for its high-potency, consistency, discreet use, and generally more affordable price than other carts.
Entourage Effect
This terminology refers to the Interaction of compounds, such as cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, to produce enhanced desired effects compared to isolated components.
Consumers would describe this as “whole-plant effect,” often yielding a more balanced, therapeutic, or potent experience.
Full-Spectrum
Full-spectrum refers to cannabis extracts that preserve and use the full range of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids naturally found in the plant.
Full-spectrum oil offers a more natural, potent “entourage effect” and a more therapeutic, strain-specific experience.
One example of a cannabis oil that offers the full-spectrum effect is the live resin.
Isolate
Isolate refers to the purest form of a single cannabinoid, mostly CBD, that has been stripped of all unwanted plant compounds and materials, including terpenes, fats, waxes, and other minor cannabinoids, and has been refined to 99%.

Live Resin
Live resin is a type of cannabis extract that offers the full-spectrum effect because of the preserved terpenes and cannabinoids. This type of oil is extracted from fresh-frozen plants, unlike distillates that use dried, cured buds.
Live resin is another popular cart choice for cannabis vape users, often prized for its rich flavor and potent effect.
Live Rosin
Live rosin also uses fresh-frozen cannabis plants to preserve the cannabinoids, terpenes, and other plant compounds that gives its the full-spectrum, entourage effect.
However, unlike live resin, live rosin does not use a solvent in extraction. It only uses heat and pressure to extract the desired compounds, making it the closest to the raw plant in terms of taste, smell, and feel.
Oxidation
This refers to the chemical degradation that happens when the cannabis extract, either THC or CBD, is exposed to oxygen, light, and heat.
This reaction will cause several changes in the oil, including a change in color from clean, gold, or amber to pink, red, or brown. The potency will be reduced, and the flavor will be altered.

Potency
Potency refers to the concentration of active cannabinoids within the oil or concentrate, primarily THC. It is often measured as a percentage, with higher values indicating greater strength.
THC vape carts are generally considered highly potent, containing between 60% to 95% cannabinoid, depending on the type of extract.
Purity
This refers to the level of refinement of a vape oil or concentrate.
A pure concentrate means it consists primarily of the desired cannabinoid, either THC or CBD, while the contaminants, unwanted materials, and other impurities have been meticulously removed.
Sauce
Sauce refers to a highly potent, viscous, and flavorful cannabis concentrate rich in terpenes and cannabinoids. It is considered a full-spectrum extract, often combining liquid terpenes with crystallized cannabinoids to provide a strong, strain-specific flavor and powerful entourage effect.
Shatter
Shatter is another type of cannabis extract in a form of brittle, glass-like texture and translucent appearance.
It is a form of Butane Hash Oil (BHO), named for its tendency to shatter into pieces when handled. Because it is more solid than liquid, it is often consumed via “dabbing,” using a dab rig or a dab pen for convenience.
Terpene Profile
This refers to the specific blend and concentration of aromatic compounds present in a vape cartridge, which determines its flavor, scent, and even therapeutic effects.
Depending on the dominant strain, a vape cart's terpene profile can be citrusy, musky, woody, or cannabis-like, transforming the vapor from just functional into a flavorful, targeted experience.
Buy our flavored botanical terpenes made in certified labs! Our strain-specific terpene blends are crafted by in-house terpologists in two compliant US labs, using botanical-derived ingredients to replicate the aroma and flavor profiles of popular strains. See our full collection here!
Wax
Wax is another form of cannabis extract known for its thick, sticky, and opaque consistency that resembles warm candle wax, hence the name.
It is also a type of Butane Hash Oil (BHO) that is whipped during the final production to create its unique, soft texture.
Viscosity
Viscosity refers to the thickness or thinness of a liquid, such as cannabis oil. It refers to the oil's ability to flow and resist deformation within the cartridge. An oil’s viscosity determines how easily it can flow into the heating coil to vaporize.
Volatility
Volatility refers to how easily the cannabinoid or tepene be converted from a liquid or solid state into vapor when heated. This concept is important to vaping cannabis oil as it dictates which compounds are released at specific temperatures and how the vapor will behave.
A highly volatile substance evaporates or vaporizes at lower temperatures or at faster rates than a less volatile substance.

Vaping Techniques & Lingo
Burnt Hit
Burnt hits usually happen when vaping with a dry wick, a damaged coil from oil combustion, wicking material catching fire (especially cotton wicks), chain vaping, using high voltage, or having low oil levels.
It is characterized by a harsh, acrid, or metallic taste and may indicate the wick needs re-saturation or the coil needs replacement.
Chain Vaping
Chain vaping happens when a consumer takes consecutive puffs from a vape device with little to no pause in between. This can lead to device overheating, rapid oil depletion, and increased tolerance.

Cloud Chasing
This refers to the practice of using high-powered vape devices to produce exceptionally large, thick, and dense clouds of vapor. This trend has also extended to cannabis vaping, when users also care about the visual spectacle beyond just the cannabis consumption.
Draw
Draw, or drawing, refers to the act of inhaling vapor from the mouthpiece of a vape pen. It is synonymous with “puff,” “hit,” “drag,” or “rip”.
Dry Hit
This happens when the heating element (coil and/or wick) burns due to insufficient cannabis oil, resulting in a harsh, acrid, and burnt taste. This is often caused by low liquid levels, high heat, or chain vaping, which prevents the device from properly vaporizing the material.
High-Temp Vaping
High-temp vaping, or high-temperature vaping, refers to using the upper range of a hardware’s capacity to produce large, thick vapors.
Low-Temp Vaping
The opposite of high-temp vaping, this flavor-focused practice refers to heating the cannabis concentrates at lower temperatures to maximize the flavor and smoothness while avoiding burning or degrading the delicate cannabinoids and terpenes.

Microdosing
This refers to inhaling small, controlled dosages of cannabis to achieve therapeutic benefits without experiencing a strong, intoxicating high.
This typically means consuming only 1 to 5 mg of THC to feel subtle improvements in mood, focus, or pain relief, while remaining clear-headed.
Preheat
This refers to the preheat function in vape hardware that gently heats the cartridge to reduce oil viscosity, prevent clogging, and ensure better wick saturation, preventing dry, burnt hits. The preheat function uses a low-power, short-duration heating cycle to warm thick oil, but not all vape hardware supports it.
Tolerance
Tolerance refers to the consumer’s body adapting and getting used to THC effects due to regular exposure, resulting in a diminished, less intense high.
As the endocannabinoid system desensitizes to the effects of THC, specifically the CB1 receptor in the brain, the body will require higher dosages to feel its effects again.

Cannabis Business Quality, Safety & Compliance Terms
For cannabis vape producers and retailers, here are the most common terms to know about:
Batch Number
Also known as the lot number, the batch number is the unique, alphanumeric code printed on the packaging that serves as the product's tracking identifier.
It serves as a digital fingerprint for a specific production run of vape cartridges, oil, or disposable devices.
COA (Certificate of Analysis)
This is the official, third-party lab report that confirms a product’s safety, quality, and potency. The COA is the primary safety check that lists important information, such as:
- Cannabinoid profile (THC and/or CBD percentages)
- Terpene profiles for flavor and aroma
- Contaminant screening report
- Confirmation that the product is free from heavy metals, pesticides, and residual solvents
It also verifies that the oil inside the cartridge matches the marketing claims to avoid counterfeits. Retailers and consumers can scan the QR code on the packaging to see the COA.
Compliance
Compliance refers to strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations throughout the production and distribution of cannabis vape products.
Cannabis remains federally illegal in the United States, but is legalized in many states. Compliance is essential for businesses to operate legally, preventing product recalls and avoiding penalties like license revocation.
Cultivation License
This is the regulatory permit granted by governmental authorities that authorizes businesses or individuals to legally grow, harvest, and process cannabis plants for commercial purposes.
In the cannabis vape industry, this is the foundational step in the supply chain, as this is where most raw materials for cannabis vape cartridges begin.
Dispensary
A dispensary is a licensed retail store that legally sells cannabis products to medical patients or recreational adult consumers.
They operate under tight regulatory oversight and offer products that include THC or CBD vapes, cartridges, and disposable pens.
Distribution License
This is a state-mandated permit for the legal transportation, storage, management, and testing of cannabis products between licensed facilities.
A distribution license is often granted to distributors who act as middlemen between manufacturers and retailers, ensuring that products are safe, properly taxed, and compliant with state regulations.
Expiration Date
An expiration date is the shelf-life indicator for a cannabis product; it is the manufacturer's estimate of the product's peak quality. For vape cartridges, the expiration date is typically 1 to 2 years from the production date. After this date, the oil will likely lose its potency, flavor, and effectiveness.

Farm Bill
The Farm Bill refers to the federal legislation that legalized hemp-derived products in the United States.
Also known as the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, the law removed hemp, defined as cannabis that contains less than 0.3% THC, from the Controlled Substances Act and reclassified it as an agricultural commodity.
Heavy Metals
The heavy metals in cannabis vape products refer to the toxic, metallic elements, such as lead, nickel, chromium, and copper, from low-quality hardware that leach and contaminate the cannabis oil and end up in the inhaled vapor.
Unregulated hardware is prone to structural degradation, corrosion, and the use of toxic materials that leach under heat.
This can be prevented by using high-quality vape materials from trusted suppliers, like Vape Pens Wholesale.
MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity)
MOQ, or minimum order quantity, refers to the smallest number of units a manufacturer or supplier can sell in a single order, whether cartridges, disposable pens, or batteries.
This is important for the retailer, as it can dictate the upfront capital required to stock inventory, especially for customizations.
For the manufacturer, the threshold is set to ensure that production, raw material purchasing, and shipping costs are economically viable.
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)
OEM refers to the company that manufactures customized vape hardware based on a brand owner's specific design, technical specs, and branding requirements.
Unlike white-labeling, where a brand buys generic, pre-designed products, an OEM partnership allows the development of unique, customized cannabis brand products.
Residual Solvents
This refers to the trace amounts of chemicals and solvents, such as butane, propane, or ethanol, that remain in the cannabis oil after extraction.
While these solvents are helpful in isolating the cannabinoids and terpenes from the cannabis, they are also fully removed through a final purging process, as they can pose a potential safety risk to consumers when heated and inhaled.
Retail License
This refers to the mandatory regulatory authorization or permit required to legally sell cannabis products, including cannabis carts, vape pens, and pods, to consumers.
The retail license ensures that the retailer complies with state, local, and federal laws regarding age restrictions, product safety, testing, and taxation.
Seed-to-Sale Tracking
This refers to the state-mandated tracking system that documents the entire production of a cannabis product, from the initial seed or clone through cultivation, the extraction, manufacturing, packaging, and final retail sale.
Seed-to-sale tracking ensures that every component of the product is traceable to a specific, licensed batch.
SKU (Stock Keeping Unit)
The SKU is a unique, alphanumeric tracking code used to manage inventory, track sales, and distinguish it from other products.
SKU is important in the cannabis vape industry because of its high product variance, each with different strains, oil types, hardware, packaging, etc. Each unique combination requires its own SKU for accurate inventory tracking.
Third-Party Testing
Third–party testing refers to the process of sending a cannabis oil sample to independent, accredited laboratories for testing to assess safety, potency, and contaminants before sale. They provide a Certificate of Analysis (COA) that verifies the findings.
Third-party testing is mandated by state laws for all legal, licensed cannabis vape products in regulated markets. If the cannabis product you bought does not have the COA from an independent lab, there’s a high chance that the product is counterfeit.
Vitamin E Acetate
Vitamin E Acetate (tocopheryl acetate) is a synthetic form of Vitamin E used as a thickening or cutting agent in illegal THC vape cartridges. The 2019 outbreak of EVALI (E-cigarette or Vaping Associated Lung Injury), a severe and fatal lung condition, was said to be primarily caused by Vitamin E Acetate.
White Label
This refers to a business model where a cannabis company uses the generic, “blank” products of a manufacturer and rebrands and sell is as their own. The buying company often attaches their own label, logo, and packaging to it.
The white-label approach allows aspiring cannabis business owners to enter the market quickly without investing in expensive customized manufacturing.

Common Cannabis Slang Terms
Blinker
This refers to inhaling from a vape pen or disposable cartridge for so long that the device's battery safety feature activates, causing the light to blink and the heating to cut off.
This is usually a result of holding the activation button (or inhaling on an auto-draw device) for a prolonged period, typically around 8 to 10 seconds, depending on the device's safety timer
RELATED: How to Use a Disposable Vape Pen
Dab
Dab, or dabbing, is a consumption method where a highly-concentrated dose of cannabis extract, often in the form of BHO, wax, or shatter, is consumed by vaporizing small drops of it on a hot surface and inhaling the vapor through a specialized water pipe called a dab rig that offers a rapid, intense high.
Nowadays, dab pens are also favored by many consumers for their portability and discretion, just like vaping cannabis oil.
Dank
In cannabis consumption, dank is a slang term used to describe exceptionally high-quality, potent, and aromatic marijuana. It is characterized by having a pungent or “loud” aroma, high potency, sticky texture, and refers to cannabis plants that are well-grown, properly cured, and highly resinous.
Dank cannabis often has a higher price and desirability than average products.
Gas
Gas is another slang term used to describe a high-quality and very potent cannabis product.
High
High refers to the psychoactive intoxication caused by inhaling the vaporized THC concentrate.
Because THC carts have higher potency compared to smoking traditional flower, the high vaping it can give is described to be much faster, more intense, and a cleaner experience.
Loud
Loud refers to the pungent, strong aroma of an extremely potent cannabis product. An enthusiast would use this to describe a product that is aromatic enough to “speak for itself” or “scream” from a distance.
A loud cannabis is the opposite of “reggie” or “brick weed,” which refers to a low-quality and faint-smelling cannabis product.
Mary Jane
Mary Jane is perhaps the most popular, long-standing slang term for marijuana or cannabis. It is also used interchangeably with terms like “weed,” “pot,” or “bud”.
Zaza
Also known as “za,” Zaza often refers to a premium, extremely potent, and high-quality cannabis. It is derived from the word exotic (Exotic → “Zatic” → “Zaza” → “Za”). Its typical strains are labeled Runtz, Gelato, and Wedding Cake.
While a premium cannabis is called Zaza, it is not related to a dangerous, synthetic drug that contains Tianeptine, also known as “gas station heroine,” called Zaza Red.
Conclusion
Understanding these cannabis terminologies can help you, as either a consumer or a retailer, make smarter product decisions, avoid compatibility issues, and improve your or your customers’ overall vaping experience.
